President-elect Sandra Bouckley to take over role for remainder of 2016

(DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 31, 2016) – Dean Bartles, PhD, FSME, 2016 SME president, recently accepted a new role as a consultant to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in support of advanced manufacturing. As such, Bartles will recuse himself from the remaining 2016 SME board meetings and financial matters, to allow him to fully focus on his new position.

President-elect Sandra Bouckley, FSME, will serve as president for the remaining 2016 SME board meetings and financial matters, leading into her 2017 term.

Bartles also serves as the 2016-17 president for the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME (NAMRI/SME) – a research and development-based subset of SME – and will maintain that role.

“We congratulate Dean on this new role and are very appreciative for his tremendous leadership and contributions to SME,” said Jeff Krause, SME chief executive officer. “We look forward to his support as an ongoing ambassador of SME and advocate for strengthening the manufacturing industry.”
